Dubai's beach club scene has always been good. In 2026, it got a full reset.
The conversion of the old La Mer South into J1 Beach - a 500-metre licensed beachfront strip in Jumeirah, has quietly shifted where the city's beach day energy sits. Instead of scattered clubs across the Palm and JBR, there's now a concentrated strip with 13 venues side by side, ranging from a St. Tropez garden institution to a Tulum-inspired jungle bar to a Greek-Mediterranean dayclub by one of the city's best DIFC restaurants.
On top of that, later in 2026, Novikov Beach opens at the new Gran Meliá Port de La Mer - and Dubai gets a Mayfair-born beach club with a private 140-metre stretch of sand.
If you're planning beach days this summer, here's what you're actually working with.
The Big Story: J1 Beach Is Now Dubai's Beach Club District

J1 Beach isn't a single venue. It's a district, the former La Mer South entirely reimagined as a curated 500-metre beachfront strip with 13 licensed restaurants and beach clubs operating side by side. The concept is modelled on the kind of seafront promenades you'd find in Cannes or Mykonos: multiple options, different energy levels, one continuous beach.
What makes it work is the curation. These aren't random tenants. Each venue was brought in because it had an existing identity - most have originals in St. Tropez, Cannes, Tulum, or London. The result is a strip that feels more international than anything Dubai's beachfront has had before.
Here's the breakdown of the venues worth knowing:
Gigi Rigolatto - Italian Riviera, Low-Key Luxury
Gigi Rigolatto arrived from St. Tropez and brought the full package: a Bellini Bar, lush garden atmosphere, a pool, a private beach, a concept store, and the Gigi Circus kids' club for families who want a beach day without spending the whole afternoon fielding "I'm bored." The food is proper Italian - vitello tonnato, gnocchi al pomodoro, tiramisù, not a beachside approximation of it.
The vibe here is refined and unhurried. Long lunches. Slow afternoons. The kind of beach day where you order another round because you're genuinely not ready to leave.
Entry: Free for ladies Monday–Friday. AED 300 (beach, fully redeemable) on weekdays; AED 400 on weekends. Hours: Daily 10am–1am Best for: Couples, groups wanting a full day, families (kids' circus on site) Book: gigi-restaurant.com
Bâoli - Cannes Energy, Asian-French Menu
Bâoli comes from Cannes and Miami - if you know either original, you know what to expect. This is the high-energy option on J1 Beach. A menu that fuses coastal French and Mediterranean dishes with East Asian techniques. A sunset lounge with an infinity pool. Private cabanas. DJ sets that start in the afternoon and carry into the evening.
The daytime is calm, a genuinely relaxed poolside experience with excellent food. From late afternoon it shifts, the music gets louder, the sundeck fills up, and it becomes one of the better evening beach club experiences in the city. If you're planning a birthday or group outing that starts at the beach and ends somewhere else, Bâoli is the obvious pick.
Entry: AED 200 per person Monday–Thursday, AED 250 on weekends (sunbeds, not fully redeemable) Hours: Daily 10am–sunset (beach); evening programming continues later Best for: Groups, special occasions, people who want a proper transition from day to night Book: baoli-restaurant.com
Sirene by Gaia - Greek Islands, Chef Izu Ani
Sirene is the beach extension of GAIA, the Greek-Mediterranean fine dining restaurant in DIFC that consistently ranks as one of the best in the city. Chef Izu Ani oversees the menu - expect fresh seafood at a signature fish market counter, Greek salads, spreads, and dishes that reflect the same quality as the original DIFC restaurant, just in a setting where you're wearing a swimsuit.
The design is all white surfaces, Aegean blue accents, and generous shade, the kind of beach club that photographs well and works equally well in person. The pool is large, the beach section is relaxed, and the Sunset Lounge does what it promises.
This is the one for people who care as much about what they're eating as where they're sitting.
Entry: AED 200 (beach) / AED 300 (pool) - non-redeemable Hours: Daily 10am–sunset Best for: Food-first crowd, couples, anyone who's eaten at GAIA and wants the beach version Book: sirenebeach.com

Gitano - Tulum in Jumeirah
Gitano brings its fifth global location to J1 Beach after New York, LA, Tulum, and London. The look is bohemian jungle lush greenery, a giant disco ball, Mexican-inspired food, rooftop bar with Burj Khalifa views. The energy is looser and more playful than Gigi or Sirene.
The signature cocktails are well-made and inventive, the menu is genuinely good Mexican food (not beach club approximations), and the crowd is younger and more social than at the other J1 venues. This is the one to book if your group wants music, colour, and something to talk about.
Entry: AED 400 (pool, fully redeemable weekdays); AED 500 (AED 400 redeemable, weekends) Hours: Sun–Thu noon–1am; Fri–Sat noon–2am Best for: Groups, younger crowd, anyone who wants energy over elegance Book: gitano.com
African Queen — Old-School French Riviera
One of the more established names on J1 Beach, African Queen draws on the 1960s French Riviera terracotta sunbeds, Mediterranean-inspired food, a theatrical ambience that's been described as Hollywood-set-meets-beach-club. It's consistently pulled a more dressed-up, older crowd than the other J1 venues.
Entry: AED 350 (pool, fully redeemable weekdays); AED 400 weekends Hours: Daily 10am–sunset Best for: Couples, 30s+ crowd, those who like style over party energy Book: africanqueen-restaurant.com
Other J1 Venues Worth Knowing
Kaimana Beach - Pan-Asian menu, island-tropical vibe. Free sunbeds Monday–Friday (genuinely free, no minimum spend), AED 300 redeemable on weekends. One of the better value options on the strip.
Ninive Beach - Middle Eastern and North African cuisine, ancient Mesopotamia-inspired design. Free access for ladies all week. AED 250 (fully redeemable) for gents. Quieter and more serene than the European-inspired venues.
Chouchou - French Riviera beach house, part private members club, part public retreat. The restaurant and ground-floor bar are open to all. Adults-only pool. Private cabanas available. Arrive before 11am for the best chance at a beach bed, members have priority earlier in the day.
Outside J1: The Established Options Still Worth Booking

J1 Beach is the new story, but it isn't the only one. Several clubs outside the strip remain among the best in the city:
Drift Beach Dubai - One of the most consistently excellent beach clubs in Dubai. Minimalist design, muted tones, genuinely serene atmosphere. AED 150–200 weekdays, AED 200–250 weekends. If you want to switch off rather than be seen, this is the club.
Tagomago - Balearic-inspired, Spanish food, a pool at Azure Residences on Palm Jumeirah. AED 150 (beach, fully redeemable) on weekdays, AED 200 on weekends. Time Out Dubai called it "one of the hottest new haunts in town" and the food backs that up. Very good value for the Palm Jumeirah location.
Nikki Beach Dubai - The global institution. Sun lounger AED 200–250 with AED 100 redeemable. Consistent, reliable, the right choice if you've visited before and know what you're getting. The Friday night party brunch here has won awards.
Aura Skypool - Not technically a beach club but earns a mention. World's highest 360° infinity pool on the Palm Tower, 50 floors up. If you want the pool-in-the-sky experience rather than sand, this is the one.
Coming Later in 2026: Novikov Beach at Gran Meliá Port de La Mer

The Gran Meliá at Port de La Mer is on track to complete by end of 2026, and it comes with Novikov Beach as its anchor beach club - along with Park Chinois (1930s Shanghai-inspired Chinese restaurant) and Zuma Dubai Beachhouse in the pipeline.
Novikov Beach will bring the Mayfair brand's signature Mediterranean-Asian fusion to a location with pool, day beds, panoramic marina views, and a private 140-metre beachfront. Given the Novikov Café at Dubai Mall already draws a loyal following, the beach club version will be immediately on the radar once it opens.
No confirmed opening date yet - the hotel completion is targeted for end of 2026, so expect the beach club to follow shortly after. Worth watching.
How to Pick the Right Club for Your Day
This is the question that matters and it's always the one people ask too late (after they've already booked the wrong one):
Want a full family day with kids sorted: Gigi Rigolatto - kids' circus, family beach, no need to keep everyone entertained yourself.
Want the best food on the beach: Sirene by Gaia - Chef Izu Ani, the GAIA pedigree, fresh seafood.
Want a group day that transitions into a night: Bâoli - starts calm, ends loud, gets the sequencing right.
Want the best value on the Palm: Tagomago - AED 150 fully redeemable on weekdays, strong food.
Want to genuinely switch off: Drift - minimal, calm, no drama.
Want something different from the usual: Gitano for the energy, Ninive for the Middle Eastern angle, Kaimana for free weekday sunbeds.
Practical Notes for Summer Beach Club Days
Timing: May is still manageable before 11am and after 6pm. By June, plan your beach days entirely around early morning sessions or late afternoon arrivals. Most clubs open at 10am, arrive at opening if you want the best experience in summer.
Booking: J1 Beach venues in particular fill up on weekends. Book 48–72 hours ahead for Friday or Saturday. Weekday spontaneous visits are usually fine.
Dress code: Smart beach/resort casual to get in. Most J1 venues are stricter about this than the Palm clubs — trainers and regular shorts don't always cut it at the entrance.
Redeemable vs non-redeemable: Always check. A AED 300 "fully redeemable" entry is genuinely AED 300 toward food and drink. A AED 200 "non-redeemable" entry is a flat fee on top of whatever you spend. The math matters.
Dubai's beach scene in 2026 is the best it's been. The J1 Beach strip gives the city something it didn't have before — a proper beachfront district where you can pick your energy rather than committing to one club and hoping it delivers. Pick your venue, book ahead, and get there before 11am.
